The PNW is home to many different flower fields, farms, and festivals. Oregon specifically has a few from tulips, lavender, daffodils, and sunflowers. Spring time is the best time for Tulips and Daffodils. Today we’re focusing on my favorite farm, Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm.
This farm has been growing tulips since 1975 and opened to the public in 1985, but before tulips the farm grew many other crops dating back to the 50’s. Over the years, it has grown in popularity and now is visited by over 100,000 people each year from all different areas of the U.S.
An estimated 5-8 million bulbs are planted within the Wooden Shoe Farm and there are 40 total acres of tulips! That’s a lot of flowers!

The farm’s operating hours vary due to tulip bloom status each year, but is most commonly open late March-early May, with peak bloom typically being early-mid April. Every year I’ve visited has been the second week in April and flowers have been about at peak bloom! They keep a bloom status update on their website to help you better plan your visit!

Where is the Wooden Shoe Farm?
Located about 45 minutes from Portland, OR with the nearest town being Woodburn, OR where you can find tons of shopping, dining, and unique experiences. It makes for the most perfect day trip from the Portland area.

Ticketing & Pricing
Ticketing is only available online, you will need to purchase tickets prior to arrival. As I’m writing this, March 29th 2025, these are the current prices. I will try to keep it updated as prices change over the years. There are also season passes available and every November-December the farm releases season flex tickets, where you can buy them and show up any day (week or weekend) and get into the festival. This is what I do as I never know for sure when I can make it over there and it works amazing!
| General Adult | Weekdays $16 | Weekends $21 |
| General Senior | Weekdays $11 | Weekends $16 |
| Sunrise Admission | Weekdays $21 | Weekends $2 |
If you’re a photographer or want to go when the lighting is good and the crowds are minimal, you can upgrade to sunset passes, drone passes, and more all explained on their website.
Furry Friends
Good news! The pups are allowed at the Tulip Festival, however they are required to be on leash and expected to be friendly around other dogs and lots of human interaction. If you’ve got a super high energy or slightly reactive pup, it may be best to leave them at home for this one! Maverick got to go in April of 2023 and he loved it, if you couldn’t tell from the below pictures.

What Else is There to do Aside From Look at Tulips?
There’s so much! Here’s a brief list below on some fun things to do:
- Shop local vendors and artists, the farm brings in tons of local people to sell their creations and build a community. You can find some super unique things!
- Grab some fresh cut tulips from the store to take home with you!
- Take a hot air balloon ride! It does cost additional to do this and it varies between tethered rides and fully in flight tours and is run by Portland Rose Balloon Company. Below is the view of the fields from a hot air balloon! Disclaimer: Wait time is incredibly long and the farm explains that on their website. My friend Stormie and I waited for over an hour for this experience.

- Grab a delicious elephant ear or savory food from one of the many food trucks and vendors present at the Tulip Farm.
- Take photos throughout their unique sculptures and benches, there are many signs, wooden shoes, cut outs, and windmills to take photos with.
Overall this is one of those “can’t miss spots” in Oregon and I hope you get the chance to see these beautiful flowers and experience the family feel of the farm!
